Frequently asked questions
Member·7 minutes to read
The questions members ask most, each answered in a few lines. Every answer ends in a link to the row of Troubleshooting that explains the message in full, so when the short answer is not enough, follow the link.
Signing in
I tried to sign in too many times. How long do I wait?
Wait fifteen minutes, then try once more. When the limit on attempts is reached, the product says so in those words, and retrying sooner does not help. See Signing in.
My sign-in link or code says it has expired. What now?
Ask for a new one. A link is single-use and short-lived, and a code that has expired or been mistyped too often cannot be revived. Start the sign-in again with your address. See Signing in.
My invitation link does not work. Why?
An invitation admits one person, once, at the address it was sent to. It may have expired, been used, or been revoked by an administrator. Sign in with the invited address, or ask an administrator for a new invitation. See Signing in.
Using the app
A page says "Something went wrong." What should I do?
Use the retry button once. If the same message comes back, report it with the request id, which names the run and the step that failed. See The app itself.
Why does a link I followed say there is nothing here?
The address does not exist, or it is not yours to see. Botseon does not tell the two apart on purpose. Go back to your bots and open the item from the sidebar. See The app itself.
A card says Blocked. What is it waiting for?
A run stopped and is waiting on a decision, usually your answer on an approval card, or a policy forbids the step. Open the item and answer the card. See Status words on cards and lists.
Messages and attachments
My message could not be sent. Did I lose what I typed?
No. When a send fails, your draft is put back in the box. Send it again. See Messages, attachments and dictation.
How many files can I attach to one message?
Twenty. A message carries at most 20 attachments, so send the rest in a second message. If the product says your organisation has run out of space for files, an administrator has to free some. See Messages, attachments and dictation.
The answer stopped streaming halfway. Is the run lost?
No. The live connection closed, but the run carried on. Reload the page and the answer is in the transcript. See Messages, attachments and dictation.
Dictation failed. Is my typed text gone?
No. A failed transcription leaves your typing unchanged, so dictate again. If dictation needs a transcription route your organisation does not allow, an administrator has to add one. See Messages, attachments and dictation.
Bots and groups
How many bots can a group chat hold?
Six. Remove a bot from the group before you add another. See Bots, groups and shared bots.
Why can I read a team bot's chat but not write to it?
You are a reader of somebody else's bot. Only its owner can change it, change who sees it, or stop its runs. Ask the owner, or ask for your own copy. See Bots, groups and shared bots.
Why can my bot not use the model I picked?
The model may sit outside your organisation's residency policy or model allowlist, lack a capability the bot's tools need, or have no key configured on this deployment. Choose another model, or ask an administrator. See Bots, groups and shared bots.
Memory, documents and skills
Which files can I add to a bot's documents?
Text files: .txt, .md, .markdown, .csv, .json, .yaml or .yml, up to 25 MB each, with text in them. Convert anything else first. See Approvals, memory and teaching.
I answered a memory card but nothing was saved. Why?
What the memory rests on may have changed after you answered, or the decision did not save. Open the card again and decide with the latest check. See Approvals, memory and teaching.
Why can I not edit a built-in skill?
Skills that ship with Botseon are read-only. Copy the skill and edit the copy. See Approvals, memory and teaching.
The computer
The bot's computer says it is asleep or not running. Is something broken?
No. A computer stops to save credits. Opening its screen wakes it. See The computer and its screens.
Why can I not take over the screen?
Somebody else is already driving it, or every screen on the shared computer is in use. Wait until the screen is handed back. See The computer and its screens.
A site keeps asking my bot to sign in. What can I do?
Some sites need a person to sign in each time, or raise a check no bot can answer. Take over the screen and sign in or answer it yourself. See The computer and its screens.
Routines
Why did my routine not run?
It may be paused, or it may have no trigger set. Switch it back on, or add a schedule or event for it to run on. See Routines.
How many routines can one bot have?
Fifty. Delete one before you make another. See Routines.
Plans and usage
A task says it is paused. Why?
The run stopped because the credits it needs are not there. Check what is left of your allowance on the usage meter. See Plans, credits and spend.
Which plans can I choose from?
For yourself: Free, a 7-day Trial with no card, Pro, Pro+ and Ultra. For a team: a Team plan whose seats match Pro, Pro+ and Ultra, or Enterprise. Prices include VAT. Prices and weekly credits are in Plans and the trial. See Plans, credits and spend.
Where do I change or cancel my plan?
In the billing portal, from Settings → Usage & Billing. Plan changes are not made on the plans page. In an organisation, only an administrator can change the plan. See Plans, credits and spend.
Plugins and notifications
A plugin says Needs auth or Expired. What do I do?
The plugin account has no working credential: it was never connected, or it expired and was not renewed. Connect the account again. See Plugins, packages and MCP servers.
Why can I not remove a plugin?
Your team requires it. An administrator made the plugin mandatory, so it, and its last account, stay installed until they change the policy. See Plugins, packages and MCP servers.
My notifications will not load. What now?
Reload the inbox. If a single notice cannot be found, it was cleared somewhere else. See Notifications.
Your organisation
A message says only an administrator can change this. Is it a fault?
No. A message that names an administrator or an owner is a permission, not a fault. The setting belongs to your organisation, so ask whoever administers it. See Your organisation.
My question is not answered here. Where do I go?
Search the troubleshooting page for the exact sentence on your screen. If it is not there, report it, with the request id. See When nothing here matches.
