Share a plugin

What this does for you

You can send someone a link to a plugin. When they open it, they see that plugin's own page, and one press of Add installs it.

Before you start

  • Anyone can open the link and see the plugin. To add it, they need a Botseon account on the same deployment.
  • The link names the plugin only. It carries nothing about you, your organisation or your connected accounts, so it is safe to paste anywhere.

Steps

  1. Open Plugins from the sidebar and press the plugin you want to share, to open its page.
  2. Press Share. A link to the plugin is copied, and a toast says so. It looks like https://<your Botseon address>/plugins/gmail.
  3. Paste the link wherever you like: a message, an email or a document.

What the person who opens it sees

The link opens the plugin's own page: its icon, name, what kind of plugin it is, and its description. The page is the same for everyone and shows nothing about you or any organisation. It has one button:

  • Signed in: Add installs the plugin in their active organisation and opens Botseon on that plugin's page in the Plugins sheet, where they connect their own account. Pressing it again on a plugin they already have installs nothing twice. Opening the link never installs anything by itself.
  • Not signed in: Sign in to add asks them to sign in first. After they sign in, they land on the same plugin page.
  • An MCP server: Open in Botseon opens the plugin in the Plugins sheet, where its add-server form lives.
  • The plugin is not available to them: if an administrator has blocked it, Add shows the administrator's message and installs nothing.

Good to know

  • A link with anything added to its path, or with a plugin name that is not valid or not in Botseon's catalogue, does not open a plugin: Botseon shows its "page not found" page.
  • Something listed under Private in the Plugins sheet is yours alone and has no Share: nobody else can install it from the marketplace.
