Share a bot with the team

What this does for you
This page covers sharing one of your bots with your team, and adding a teammate's shared bot to browse read-only.
Before you start
- Your organisation is a team organisation — a personal organisation has no one to share with.
- You either own the bot you want to share, or a teammate has already set theirs to Team visibility.
Steps
- Set your bot's visibility to Team, in the Visibility card of Make a bot, and set it up. Only the bot's owner can change this. <!-- shot: team-bots-01-phone.png | The Visibility card set to Team, on a phone --> <!-- shot: team-bots-01-desktop.png | The Visibility card set to Team, on a desktop -->
- Open Team bots in the sidebar foot. It's shown only in a team organisation. <!-- shot: team-bots-02-phone.png | The Team bots rail button, on a phone --> <!-- shot: team-bots-02-desktop.png | The Team bots rail button, on a desktop -->
- Browse what your teammates have shared. Each row shows the bot's avatar, name, title, and who owns it; your own bots never appear here. <!-- shot: team-bots-03-phone.png | The Team bots browser, on a phone --> <!-- shot: team-bots-03-desktop.png | The Team bots browser, on a desktop -->
- Add a bot with its Add button. This gives you a read-only view of the owner's own conversation with that bot, not a conversation of your own. <!-- shot: team-bots-04-phone.png | Adding a shared bot, on a phone --> <!-- shot: team-bots-04-desktop.png | Adding a shared bot, on a desktop -->
- Open the added bot from your sidebar. Its composer is replaced with a notice naming the owner, and its Settings show the same fields as plain text, with no input and no button. <!-- shot: team-bots-05-phone.png | A shared bot's view-only chat, on a phone --> <!-- shot: team-bots-05-desktop.png | A shared bot's view-only chat, on a desktop -->
- Remove a bot you no longer want to follow with Remove, or stop sharing your own bot by switching its visibility back to Only me — this ends every teammate's access to it at once. <!-- shot: team-bots-06-phone.png | Removing a shared bot, on a phone --> <!-- shot: team-bots-06-desktop.png | Removing a shared bot, on a desktop -->
A worked example
Asking a teammate to share their bot with the team:
Can you set BillingBot's visibility to Team? I'd like to add it and follow along.
What can go wrong
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
That bot is not shared with the team. | The bot's owner has not set it to Team visibility, or has since turned sharing off. | Ask the owner to set its visibility to Team. |
Only the bot's owner can change who sees it. | Visibility is an owner-only write. | Ask the bot's owner to change it. |
Only the bot's owner can change this bot. | You've opened a shared bot read-only; every write on it is owner-only. | Ask the owner to make the change, or duplicate the bot for your own copy. |
Only the owner can stop this run. | A shared bot's run belongs to its owner, even while you're watching it. | Ask the owner to stop it. |
A personal organisation has no members to manage. | Sharing needs a team organisation. | Switch to a team organisation, or create one. |
