Charts in your chat

What this does for you

When you ask your bot for a chart, it draws the chart in the conversation from the numbers themselves, never as a picture. The chart stays crisp at any zoom, follows your light or dark theme, and lets you read the exact value of every point. A colleague who uses a screen reader gets every series by name and a data table with every value.

Before you start

  • Give the bot the numbers, or let it fetch them with a tool it already has. It charts the data it holds; it does not invent figures.
  • Charts are drawn in the web and desktop apps. The phone app does not draw them yet: open the conversation on the web or desktop to see one.
  • A chart can hold up to 8 series of up to 400 points each. For more, ask the bot to group the data first (for example by month).

Steps

To ask for a chart:

  1. In the chat, ask the bot for a chart and say what it should show: the kind (line, bar, stacked bar, area or scatter), the range you want (for example 2000–2025) and the units.
  2. The bot posts a chart card. It shows its title, both axes with their units and exactly the range you asked for. A line or area chart labels its first and last values; a bar chart with 12 bars or fewer labels every bar.
  3. Reading exact values: hover over a point or a bar, or press Tab to reach the chart and use the arrow keys. Left and Right move between points; Up and Down move between series. A tooltip shows the series name, the x value and the exact value with its unit.
  4. The data table: open Show data table under the chart to see every plotted value as a table, one row per point. Screen readers announce each series by its name.

A worked example

Chart our monthly revenue for 2025 as a line, in thousands of EUR: Jan 41, Feb 44, Mar 52, Apr 49.

The bot posts a line chart titled with what it shows, Revenue (k EUR) on the y axis, the first and last months labelled with their values, and Show data table underneath.

What can go wrong

When a chart is outside what a chart card can hold, the bot is told why and tries again with less data, or tells you in a sentence.
